About the Artists
A scientist and artist, Amy Flatten says, “My paintings present unique abstractions of commonplace things that have caught my eye, or have challenged my intellect.” She is the Director of International Affairs for a scientific organization in the D.C. area, where she develops international exchanges, collaborations, and partnerships with scientists around the globe.

Mimi Little says of the works on display, “The idea for this series of paintings was inspired by a trip I took to Zimbabwe last July.” She has produced a number of series based on travels. You can see her artwork at calvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, Maryland and and the WildChild Gallery in Matlacha, FL.

Thomas Xenakis says, “This exhibition features an ongoing body of work titled: XPYSO, or gold in Greek. The XPYSO series is inspired by the scarred and defaced surfaces of the Medieval Byzantine iconographic images.” Xenakis was awarded two Senior Fulbright Fellowships to Greece in 1994-1995 and in 2000-2001.

Sandra Warren Gobar, former adjunct professor at the Corcoran School of Arts & Design, curated the exhibit.
