Club Dinner Feat. Soprano Millicent Scarlett-Smith

Soprano Millicent Scarlett-Smith will perform at a Club Dinner Friday, June 23 at 6:30 pm. Described as having a “juicy tone” by the Baltimore Sun, Scarlett-Smith, who hails from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, made her operatic debut in 2000 with Opera Illinois in her successful role as Clara in Porgy and Bess, and has gone on to have a wonderful performing career. 

She has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships. Most notably she was a winner of the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition and returned to perform with Maestro Pavarotti in the role of Mistress Ford in Falstaff. She was also a winner in the Mid-Atlantic Region Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a National Semifinalist. 

She performed for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and was heard in the World Premiere of "Ozone," featuring the music of Larry Alan Smith, the poetry of U.S. Poet Laureate Rita Dove and the Bowen McCauley Dance troupe at the Kennedy Center. In 2010, she was the soloist at the George Washington University Commencement on the National Mall, where former First Lady Michelle Obama was the key-note speaker.

Program: 7:30 pm
Dinner: 8:30 pm
