Club Dinner Feat. the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company

Choreographer Dana Tai Soon Burgess will present excerpts from his works performed by his company, the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, at a Club Dinner, Friday, May 19 at 6:30 pm. The evening will include an interview by the Company’s Board President Bonnie Kogod. 

Described as "not only a Washington prize but a national dance treasure" and "poet laureate of Washington dance" by Washington Post dance critic and Pulitzer Prize-winner Sarah Kaufman, Dana Tai Soon Burgess has broken new ground in modern dance and has created his own "movement vocabulary." He is the Smithsonian's first-ever choreographer in residence, currently at the National Portrait Gallery, where his enigmatic dance company create and perform new dances inspired by exhibitions there. 

The Chinese artist Duma has documented the dance company's residency and created a small photo record of their most recent work, "Margin," while at the Gallery. He and Burgess will be on hand to sign should members want to purchase the $20 book.
