Club Dinner Featuring Classical Trumpeter Jeffrey Work
March 24, 2017 at 6:30PM
Classical trumpeter Jeffrey Work, who has been Principal Trumpet in the Oregon Symphony since 2006, follows his popular 2009 Club Dinner recital with another evening of music and audience interaction Friday, March 24 at 6:30 pm. This year’s offering will survey the development of the trumpet from its earliest forays into the world of art music up to the present day. Haydn’s beloved Trumpet Concerto is the centerpiece with works of Balay, Viviani, Enesco, and Stephenson rounding out the program. Work will pepper the evening with lively demonstrations of how trumpets and trumpeters work, and how each has evolved over the centuries. Since 1999, he has also served as Principal Trumpet of the summer Colorado Music Festival in Boulder. Notable solo credits include concerto appearances with Mstislav Rostropovich at the Rencontres Musicales d’Evian in Evian, France and with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC.
