Poetry Dinner

June 6, 2017 at 5:30PM

Monroe House

The Arts Club offers a guided discussion of poetry during a dinner with local author Kim Roberts Tuesday, June 6 at 5:30 pm. In her latest book, The Scientific Method, which Grace Cavalieri calls “a master work by a master poet,” Roberts combines poems about Thomas Alva Edison and Carl Sagan, the strange mating habits of invertebrates and fish and rondeaux about the United States presidents. She investigates science’s historical traditions and applies that same precision to examine what it means to be Jewish and a resident of the American capital.

Roberts is the author of five poetry collections; she also co-edits two literary journals, Beltway Poetry Quarterly and the Delaware Poetry Review. She is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the D.C. Council on the Arts and Humanities and she has served as a writer-in-residence at fifteen artist colonies.

No technical expertise required! Copies of poems will be supplied that evening, so bring your reading glasses. Literary Chair Sandra Beasley will host and moderate.

$45 per person / $80 per couple, which includes a three-course meal and wine. This event is for Club Members and their guests. Seating will be capped at twelve, so please register early. RSVP by 3 pm the day before the dinner. Reservations can be made at (202) 331-7282 ext. 3 or email
