Arts Club members represent visual and performing artists, arts administrators and educators, writers, architects, and persons who simply enjoy and support the arts. Persons under the age of 35 may join as junior members. Daytime members can take advantage of the club's weekday activities. Cultural, educational, and diplomatic organizations are eligible for institutional membership.

The majority of our members are from the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, while non-resident members live throughout the country. We also have members residing in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

From September through July, the club's calendar is filled with a variety of programs and events that reflect the wide-ranging interests of our members. From club dinners to exhibit openings, cabaret evenings of jazz to classical concerts, the club's activities -- all of which are organized by the members themselves -- spotlight the full range of the arts. Members can become involved in any of the 17 committees dedicated to various artistic disciplines and to the ongoing activities of the club.

Lunch is served at the club on Wednesdays and Fridays. Members can also use the club's facilities for private entertaining. Food for all luncheons, dinners, and private events is prepared by the club's own chef.

Two guest rooms are available for rental by club members and affiliates. The 1998 redecoration of these rooms and a guest sitting room reflects the contribution of the Laura Ashley Company to the Arts Club's ongoing preservation programs.

The Arts Club enjoys reciprocal relationships with clubs in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Providence, Detroit, Kansas City, and San Francisco, as well as with arts clubs in London, Penzance (Cornwall), and Dublin.

The Arts Club of Washington welcomes inquiries concerning membership from interested individuals or organizations. although sponsors are not required, all applicants for resident membership meet with the Admissions Committee to learn more about the club, its activities, and opportunities for involvement. The full application and admissions process usually takes no more than 4 weeks.
