2022 Holiday Member’s Exhibition

Juror Announcement

 

The Arts Club of Washington is pleased to announce Helen Criales as juror for the 2022 Holiday Member’s Exhibition. Helen Criales is an independent curator, arts consultant, and artist based in Washington DC.

As an arts worker and artist Criales is dedicated to supporting the local arts community and advocating for, and centering marginalized artists. Criales has curated numerous exhibitions as well as private art collections throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. As an arts consultant with Latela Curatorial she has also advised renowned real estate developers on conscious community placemaking in an ever gentrifying Washington DC. Criales also co-led Latela Curatorial’s annual fall “See Support Collect” campaign to boost collectorship of women and non-binary artists’ work for three years . 

As an artist and photographer, she focuses on gender identity via performance and self-portraiture, and has shown in several museum and gallery exhibitions. Most recently, Criales served as curator for VAMOCA’s Amplify show in 2021 where she was also an exhibiting artist. This fall Criales curates Innervisions: Dialogues in Self-Portraiture currently showing till November 26 at Brentwood Arts Exchange.
